Dark Souls: Remastered brings From Software's accidental masterpiece to the Nintendo Switch

Dark Souls: Remastered brings From Software's accidental masterpiece to the Nintendo Switch

As you may recall, the 2012 PC port of Dark Souls' original console variation was not optimised, and was described as "strictly a port from the console version" at the time. While the Switch version could conceivably address that level of difficulty by toning it down, somehow we suspect that Dark Souls Remastered will be just as hard to master as the original. The game also has a reputation for being incredibly hard and unforgiving even for skilled players.

FromSoftware's original Dark Souls is getting a remaster later this year, letting everyone practice their rolling and get used to the unforgiving combat in high definition.

According to Dark Souls Remastered's store page, all Steam owners of Dark Souls: Prepare To Die will get a 50% discount.

While nothing was detailed about the upcoming remaster, the trailer does show some updated graphics as an armored figure -presumably, the player's character - ignites one of the game's many bonfires in the game's hub location, the Firelink Shrine. The report also claims that (Dark Souls publisher) Bandai Namco plans to remaster the entire trilogy eventually, but that is not happening just yet.

It appears that Dark Souls 3 will feature a whole new lighting system and SFX based on Dark Souls 3, while its multiplayer will hold up to 6 concurrent players.

If you are a Nintendo Switch owner, you will soon be glad to know that you will have another reason to throw it across the room in a fit of rage.
