"Detective Pikachu" Aims for March 23 Release with Massive amiibo

This one expands upon the original Japanese eShop release, and it will launch alongside an amiibo that is much larger than your average plastic Pikachu.

The move marks another step in the recent resurgence of Pokemon that began with Pokemon Go's release in 2016.

Nintendo confirmed in a recent press release that Detective Pikachu will be coming to 3DS systems in North America and Europe on March 23.

Along with announcment of the title, the game will also be getting a special amiibo. It's our favorite gumshoe Pikachu posed while "sleithing", and it's a little bigger than regular amiibo figures. Perhaps it's no surprise the game which inspired the film is finally being released in the West.

The story takes place in Ryme City, as Detective Pikachu attempts to find Tim's missing father, Harry, by searching for clues and interviewing witnesses. Are you more interested in watching the Detective Pikachu movie? The Detective Pikachu amiibo measures in at 13.6 centimeters, which is nearly twice the size of your standard Pikachu amiibo's 7.1 cm. Pikachu amiibo. Plus, the jumbo-sized amiibo will let players see all nearby available Pika Prompts, which apparently are hidden during normal gameplay.

The New Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition will hit the USA - it was released in Japan late past year - on January 26.

Developed by Creatures Inc, Detective Pikachu is a puzzle-solving adventure featuring Pikachu as the titular character.
