Fox News' chief DC reporter left after harassment claims

James Rosen a former Fox News chief Washington correspondent appears on

Fox News did not immediately respond to NBC News' request for comment.

Last spring, according to NPR, Rosen tried to forcibly kiss a young reporter after the two had lunch together. "The female reporter declined to comment for this story", Folkenflik writes.

Sexual harassment allegations have rocked major networks and publications across the industry, ushering in the abrupt ousters of high-profile media figures.

"There was a problem with our chief executive, sort of, over the years, isolated incidents", Murdoch told Sky News, referencing allegations that were made against the late Fox News' CEO Roger Ailes.

Rosen isn't the only journalist facing scrutiny this week - the Washington Post suspended reporter Joel Achenbach 90 days for "inappropriate workplace conduct" allegedly involving female journalists.

Rosen in a tweet after he left Fox said he hoped to have news about his future endeavors soon. Fox News also parted ways with its top host, Bill O'Reilly, after advertisers dropped the show in response to a string of claims that he had harassed women at the news network. She and multiple other women came forward with allegations against him.

In April, news host Bill O'Reilly was sacked after the New York Times reported Fox News paid five women about $13 million to settle harassment claims. On Wednesday, a report from NPR suggested why: Several of his colleagues had made a string of sexual harassment allegations against him.

The network also parted ways with another host, Eric Bolling, after misconduct accusations. But there have been questions on whether the network has done enough to address a culture that allowed for such predation.

Rosen's departure was the first since the parent company hired a law firm to investigate the various claims, though it is not clear whether that investigation is related to his departure. "There's been nothing else since then". In exchange for her keeping the complaint private, NPR reported, Fox News and the producer, a foreign national, made a deal "that enabled her to extend her stay in the US", in NPR's words.

He added that the attention "was largely political because we are conservative".
