Jardim gives Liverpool & Arsenal Lemar hope

The Gunners remain interested in signing Lemar but Liverpool have plenty of cash in the bank from Coutinho's sale and can now topple Arsenal's offer, according to the Mirror.

Jardim has made it clear on several occasions that he doesn't want to sell Lemar although the manager knows anything can happen when it comes to the January transfer window.

The Reds have even explored the possibility of trying to sign Naby Keita six months earlier than expected - something that his club RB Leipzig are determined not to let happen.

Lemar had been close to making a switch to the Premier League with Arsenal last summer as Arsene Wenger looked to sign the £90m-rated forward to replace Manchester City-bound Sanchez. But the paper says Liverpool are considering paying a premium on top of the fee to bring him in during the January transfer window instead.

The 20-year-old Brazilian has impressed this season and has an excess of talent and a clearly bright future but is just clearly a step or two behind Lemar at this stage.

However, with Liverpool losing Philippe Coutinho after a long and drawn out battle with Barcelona and Arsenal potentially seeing both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil leave the club, both clubs could use Thomas Lemar to fill the gaps.

Monaco managed to hold on to the player, but with the winter window, the rumours around the Frenchman's future have again attracted the spotlight this month.

A predominantly left-footed player, Lemar is at his best on the left wing, where he has played the majority of his football for both Monaco and France.

"So certainly you're leaving a club where you're gonna play every week, where you're the star, where the France head coach is there".

"I am told that Liverpool wouldn't make a big offer".
