New Black Panther Featurette Focuses On Dora Milaje

Academy Award victor Lupita Nyong'o said she cannot get tickets to the Los Angeles world premiere of Black Panther - a movie that she is starring in - because the movie has experienced record-breaking pre-sales and she couldn't nab any tickets in time. With what's been a tremendous marketing campaign now winding down, and advanced ticket sales for the film promising big numbers at the box office, all signs point to another monster hit for Marvel, and we'll know soon enough if that's indeed the case.

Fandago states that in its first 24 hours alone, the film overtook Captain America: Civil Warto to sell more advance tickets than any other film released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe history.

While part of ticket sales may be driven by a special poster being offered with purchases, according to Fandango, tickets for the film have been "riding an incredible wave of momentum" since sales began last week. "Tickets have been going fast ever since presales started on Fandango late Monday", said Fandango Editor Erik Davis. Disney, which owns Marvel, has been promoting the movie heavily.

"Captain America: Civil War" opened in May of 2016, and is the 15th-highest worldwide grosser, with $1.15 billion.

"There were no seats and I was unable to buy tickets to see "Black Panther" on opening night", Nyong'o added, astonished. On the whole, it appears as if Black Panther's Doras aren't just T'Challa's bodyguards - they're a straight-up Wakandan strike force.

Alongside Boseman, the movie features a star-studded cast which includes; Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and the list goes on.
