New Zealand continue winning streak over Pakistan

Injured Shoaib Malik Returns Home After Being Ruled Out Of Twenty20 Series Against New Zealand

Munro was left unbeaten on 49, when a wide by Hasan Ali in the 16th over allowed New Zealand to pass their 105-run target.

Pakistan will be hoping to avenge a chastening ODI whitewash in the three-match T20I series against New Zealand, which begins today (Monday) in Wellington.

Prior to this, they have played just one T20I at Westpac Stadium on January 22, 2016 in which New Zealand emerged victorious by 95 runs.

Having been whitewashed 5-0 in the one-day global series, any hopes Pakistan would be more competitive in the shorter format were swiftly dashed as they collapsed to 38 for six after being put in.

Shadab Khan ended Bruce's innings at 26, as New Zealand lost their third wicket at 57.

They are also expected to bring in Glenn Phillips as wicketkeeper and Tom Bruce into the middle order as Nicholls and Latham are both rested, but they will be confident of having more than enough quality and firepower despite the changes to pick up their 13 consecutive win over Pakistan in all formats of the game. For Pakistan, Babar Azam was the top scorer with 41 runs facing 41 balls while Hasan Ali was the only other batsman to get into double digits in another woeful display.

He had Fakhar Zaman for three and the promoted Mohammad Nawaz for seven, Seth Rance removed Umar Amin without scoring and Anaru Kitchen dismissed Haris Sohail for nine.

"Shoaib Malik suffered a delayed concussion, when he was hit on the head by a wayward throw during the ODI in Hamilton", Pakistan physiotherapist VB Singh was quoted as saying by Geo TV.

Like the ODIs, Pakistan still enjoy better record in T20Is as compared to New Zealand which had to taste defeat eight times against the former in 15 T20Is, the two sides have played so far.
