OnePlus 6 flagship to release in Q2 2018 with Snapdragon 845 SoC

The One Plus 5T in Sandstone White

The Chinese company is sticking to its trend of launching a new smartphone at the end of Q2 2018, meaning in June 2018.

Late a year ago, when the purported list of smartphones arriving with Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset Snapdragon 845 on board came out, it had the OnePlus 6 on the list. Also, according to Lau, the company has "no choice" but to release the OnePlus 6 with a Snapdragon 845 system on a chip. Also, the hardware setup will be similar to that of the iPhone X and that the OP6 will make use of an infrared 3D camera module, which will be located on the front of the device. The OnePlus 5T is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor clocked up to 2.45GHz.

The next OnePlus phone will also be here in late Q2. Looking at the last two years, we may see OnePlus 6T at the end of 2018, succeeding the OnePlus 6. Additionally, the company is also in talks with United States telecom carriers for sales of its headsets. It is reported that 85-90% of U.S. customers are buying their phones from a telco.

OnePlus has traditionally focused a lot on selling its devices through various online websites, including its own.

It remains to be seen whether the company will face hurdles in doing so, though, as fellow Chinese firm Huawei this week saw AT&T back out of a planned partnership following pressure from the U.S. government.

"If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment", Lau said.

But the chief person did not reveal any more details on the same.

Huawei was set to announce the partnership this week at CES 2018 before AT&T is said to have pulled out of the deal at the last minute. after politicians scuppered the deal citing security concerns. In addition, Lau said that OnePlus would start talking with US carriers this year about selling its devices through one or more stateside wireless operators.
