Palestinians Wounded in Clashes With Israeli Army in Gaza, West Bank

The military said soldiers fired at the "main instigator".

At least 46 Palestinians have been injured in clashes with Israeli forces who again deployed tear gas and live ammunition at the weekly "Day of Rage" protests against the United States decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Israel is an island of democratic, free-market values in the Middle East, and one of our strongest allies.

A 16-year-old youth was killed and two others injured in a clash near the Gaza-Israel border fence in which Palestinians threw stones at Israeli troops, according to the report. Soldiers opened fire because the Palestinians "posed a threat".

In the West Bank, the Health Ministry said Ali Omar, 16, was shot in the head with live fire in clashes near the city of Nablus.

While welcomed in Israel, Trump's declaration was met with anger by Palestinians, with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas saying the U.S. was no longer an honest broker in peace talks and the Gaza-based terror group Hamas calling for an intifada, or violent uprising.

The statement also expressed deep concern regarding, "the fatal shooting by Israeli security forces of another Palestinian minor, 17-year old Musaab al-Tamimi, during protests in the occupied West Bank on 3 January".

Palestinians and rights groups have criticized Israel for using excessive force against Palestinian protesters.

In the West Bank, five people were wounded by rubber bullets in clashes with the Israel Defense Forces.

A further 200,000 live in East Jerusalem, annexed by Israel in a move never recognised by the global community.
