Star LSU RB Derrius Guice declares for the 2018 NFL Draft

Fittingly, the social media aficionado made his announcement official with a Twitter video. However, an assortment of injuries hampered Guice, but he still ran 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The already-deep running back draft class of 2018 added another top prospect on Wednesday, as LSU's Derrius Guice announced his intention to forego his senior season and enter the National Football League draft in a video message on his Twitter account.

Fittingly, LSU's No. 5 is the Tigers' fifth underclassman headed to this year's NFL Draft.

He's the latest LSU star to declare for the draft, doing so days after edge rusher Arden Key announced he'd be skipping his senior season to test the draft waters. Guice eventually broke through, running rampant for 276 yards against the Ole Miss in LSU's 40-24 win.

"He's just a crucial player for our team and he's just been continuing to get better and better and feeling healthier and healthier, so that's been great for us to have", LSU quarterback Danny Etling said of Guice, per the Associated Press (h/t USA Today). "Having he opportunity to play for this storied university was truly an honor".

Guice, who shared the workload with Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette in 2016, rushed for 2,638 yards and 26 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

Over his career, Guice notched 3,074 yards on 471 carries and scored 29 touchdowns on the ground. Guice is a Baton Rouge native.

Guice likely will be the second or third running back selected; Penn State's Saquon Barkley is considered the top back available.
