Use Your Bitcoin At KFC For A Bucket Of Fried Chicken

KFC Canada is one of the latest in a wave of companies trying to boost sales by connecting their brand to cryptocurrency

Customers can get it for bitcoin equivalent of CAD $20 (currently 0.0011564 in the virtual currency).

In one post on Twitter, the rep commandeering the KFC Canada account suggested that the company may accept other cryptocurrencies as well.

KFC Canada has said that it doesn't intend to integrate bitcoin as a permanent and long-term payment method for now. Seems the Far North contingent of the Colonel's original recipe restaurants are now offering The Bitcoin Bucke LTO. "So, trade your Bitcoins for buckets and invest in something finger lickin' good". Inclusive of bitcoin transaction fees, which are averaging at around $5 on major blockchain wallet platforms like Blockchain and Trezor, the KFC bitcoin-themed fried chicken bucket costs over $30.

Instead, the company is accepting Bitcoin via BitPay as one of the options through an online check-out page. Bitcoin payments are being accepted under its campaign to address the rapidly increasing demand for bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market in general.

The limited-time marketing move sees the Canada-based chain advertising "The Bitcoin Bucket" complete with a Facebook-based live-tracker of the standing price for the product, which works out to roughly 20 Canadian dollars depending on the exchange rate with bitcoin.

While the actual Bitcoin at KFC price changes in realtime to match a standard price of $20, it may not be the best choice to use this payment method for reasons other than the high fees.

Fast food chicken franchise KFC will now allows customers in Canada to pay for a bucket meal using Bitcoin.

The adoption and integration of blockchain technology by fast food chains like KFC and McDonald's will drastically increase the awareness of millennials in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, which have evolved into a major asset class.

Response to social media was controversy.

In recent months the bitcoin network has become almost unusable for day-to-day commerce and small transactions. It has decreased by 1.22%, as compared to the previous day.
