Vehicle flies into the second floor of California office building

Members from OCFA & Los Angeles County USARteams are seen here removing the vehicle from the building on Sunday

A vehicle crashed into the second floor of a California office building early Sunday morning, police said.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the collision was reported shortly before 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of 17th and French Streets.

Officers also said that the driver had admitted to using narcotics and that he or she would be admitted to a local hospital for observation.

Police will now submit the case to the Orange County District's Attorney's Office after toxicology tests come back, according to Cpl.

The Orange County Fire Authority said the driver hit a center divider on 17th Street, then went airborne. A specialized fire truck from Los Angeles was brought in to extract the auto from the dentist's office.

At 6.45am PST (2.45pm GMT) the fire department tweeted: "OCFA in Santa Ana with a vehicle that crashed into the second floor of a small Office building". The fire department tweeted that the auto then "went airborne and landed into the building".

"It was insane, it really was", witness Daniel Sanchez told NBC LA.

Firefighters said there were two people inside the vehicle. There were no other injuries reported.
