Why Mark Wahlberg Got "All the Money" Pay Bump Over Michelle Williams

Why Mark Wahlberg Got

As the pay gap debate continues to gain steam in the wake of news that Michelle Williams was paid less than 1% of Mark Wahlberg's paycheck for the All the Money in the World reshoots, more details emerge about Wahlberg's deal over his fee.

Other actors, though, sounded off on the pay disparity this week.

"Because all of them, everyone did it for nothing", he told USA Today, revealing that all actors "came in for free" except Plummer who "had to get paid".

Another Hollywood insider says Wahlberg's lawyer formally vetoed the Oscar victor in a letter to financiers until his demand for additional payment was met.

Wahlberg reportedly withheld approval of Christopher Plummer as the replacement for Kevin Spacey to get his $1.5 million fee, refusing to sign off on the casting unless he received additional payment.

Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams attend the premiere of Sony Pictures Entertainment's "All The Money In The World" at Samuel Goldwyn Theater on December 18, 2017 in Beverly Hills, California.

Williams answered the call and agreed to be compensated at the minimum SAG-AFTRA rate of $80 per day, earning her a total of $800 for the 10-day reshoot. But it wasn't just Williams who chose not to profit off the scandal. Williams was reportedly paid less than $1,000 for the reshoots.

Williams and Wahlberg are both represented by Williams Morris Endeavor, and some critics have accused the talent agency of failing to inform the Oscar-nominated actress of her co-start's lucrative arrangement.

Director Ridley Scott had previously said that no one had been paid anything for the reshoots.

Both Scott and Williams have spoken about doing the reshoot for free, with Williams telling USA Today last month that she would even give up her Thanksgiving holiday for the reshoots.

According to The Washington Post, Wahlberg, the highest paid actor of the year, "along with manager Stephen Levinson and agency WME, have a reputation in Hollywood for driving a tough bargain".

'I'm so much more interested in what you have to say than what I have to say, ' Williams told reporters about her date on the red carpet.
