Zinedine Zidane 'not afraid' of handling Real Madrid's current crisis

Cristiano Ronaldo is all smiles as he juggles the ball with his hands on Tuesday morning

Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez have reportedly clashed over the potential signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao.

"I want to show that I am also a good coach in the hard times", Zidane told France Football yesterday as he was awarded manager of the year for the second time by the prestigious magazine in his homeland on the back of eight trophies in his first 24 months in senior management.

He admitted to France Football, as quoted by AS: "Zinedine Zidane isn't a player at Real Madrid anymore".

In La Liga, they are 16 points behind league leaders and arch-rivals FC Barcelona, who recently thrashed them 3-0 at El Grand Clasico in December.

But Zidane, who won La Liga and the Champions League as a player with Madrid, said his ability to ignore any outside pressure was crucial. People might think that everything is always simple for me, that I do everything by instinct, but that's not true. "I don't want anybody, I don't want anything", Zidane told a news conference on Tuesday.

"I'm not protected by what I achieved as a player for this club".

Despite his tremendous success so far, Zidane can not see himself in the same job 10 years down the line and that his reputation as a player will not protect him as a coach. That Zidane no longer exists", the Real Madrid manager was quoted as saying by France Football."Now it's down to Zinedine Zidane the coach to carve out a career. I don't think about anything else. "I've wrapped a shield around myself; nothing can bother me", he said. "I know I'm not going to stay for 10 years".

An ability to "switch off" and just live a normal family life when not working was an advantage he had, Zidane added. "I put up my shield, nothing can bother me". I know that many coaches aren't able to take their minds off the job, but I do have that ability. I go home, see my wife, my children, I go and watch a show or have dinner with my wife.
