Metal Gear Survive Is Charging $10 For a Second Save Slot

Screenshot from Metal Gear Survive

In a frankly freaky and anti-consumer move, Metal Gear Survive charges players approximately £8 if they want to have a second save slot in order to have multiple playthroughs of the game ongoing concurrently. Otherwise, players will be able to create one character and use that one in both single- and multiplayer action.

While everything sounds normal so far, the problem begins when you want to share your game with a friend or family member in your own house. If you want to start a fresh playthrough, you've got to create a new character, which means you'll have to delete your original save or cough up 1,000 SV Coins. Konami reserves the right to ban your love affair in Metal Gear Survive.

While yes, it's important to note that the game didn't release at a full-triple A price, possibly warranting the host of microtransactions - charging a player for a save slot is absolutely ridiculous. However SV coins (aka Survival Coins) are bought with real money, and there's no option to just buy 1000 coins at a time - instead, the easiest way is to purchase 1150 coins which costs $9.99. In other words, you'll need to spend at least a tenner to get enough SV Coins to buy a second save slot.

Obviously, many players are upset over the issue, as you will see over on the ResetEra forums.
