The Wilhelm Scream Has Been Retired & Replaced In Star Wars Film

No hints on what the script will entail, though we know it will remain loyal to the pieces that Rian Johnson left scattered at the end of the stunning Star Wars: The Last Jedi, despite some backlash. It's time for Star Wars fans to turn their obsession to the final film in the sequel trilogy, the film known only as "Star Wars: Episode IX". During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Abrams confirmed that the script is finished and shooting is set to begin this July.

J.J. Abrams appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, where he talked about the upcoming unnamed Star Wars film, and shared that it does in fact have a script locked in. "Having a script in advance is something we haven't always been lucky enough to have".

J.J. Abrams returns to direct the film, taking the place of Colin Trevorrow. "I'm writing this with Chris Terrio, who's a genius, and I'm having a great time". But before it can come to an end - if it truly is the end - we have to get to the untitled Star Wars: Episode IX. Narratively, the Resistance is in tatters, broken thanks to The First Order's onslaught. Of course, Abrams wasn't always meant to return to sci-fi saga, but instead took over as director when Colin Trevorrow parted ways with Lucasfilm.

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac are all set to reprise their characters.

Even though we just had Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story is releasing this May, Disney is not slowing down its rate of giving us one Star Wars movie per year.

"I will say that the story of Rey and Poe and Finn and Kylo Ren - and if you look, there are three men and one woman, to those that are complaining that there are too many women in Star Wars - their story continues in a way that I couldn't be more excited about and cannot wait for people to see". However, shifting from its proposed May premiere, we will have to wait until December 20, 2019 to see where Abrams is taking us next.
