Residents of some vulnerable communities were ordered to leave Monday night by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

As of Monday afternoon, rainfall was expected late Monday night into Tuesday, with another storm predicted for Wednesday into Thursday, and a third Friday into Saturday.

Seto indicated that the National Weather Service may issue flash flood watches or warnings in the county depending on the conditions leading up the storms. In addition, the online interactive Debris Flow Risk Map now shows changes to the risk areas from Extreme Risk to High Risk in the city of Carpinteria based on that city's staff analysis.

It's possible more evacuations could be called for this week, as the first of several storms pass over the Santa Barbara coast. County officials say none of the coming systems appear to be capable of causing debris flows, but each will be evaluated.

KEYT-TV reports from Montecito that rain has been light early Tuesday but heavier rainfall is expected at late morning.

A recommended evacuation warning is in effect for a wider area.

Residents who live near the site of a deadly January mudslide in Southern California were ordered to evacuate yet again Monday night amid fears that an incoming storm system could trigger more risky debris flows, but those orders were lifted Tuesday morning and everyone was allowed to go home.

The mandatory orders will be in effect for areas the county has identified as being at "extreme high risk" for unsafe debris flows.

Heavy downpours in January triggered debris flows that left more than a dozen people dead and blocked the 101 Freeway in the area for two weeks.

A voluntary evacuation order is in effect in neighbouring Ventura County for areas north of Ojai Valley.
