Hearthstone's next expansion sees players enter The Witchwood

Hearthstone® Players Can Unleash Their Inner Beast in Upcoming Expansion The Witchwood™

Find out what else to expect from Hearthstone's Year of the Raven.

Hearthstone's next expansion is a witch-y affair that brings a chunk of news cards and another dungeon run-style mode to the game.

Something spooky is stirring in the heart of The Witchwood, the next expansion for Blizzard's Hearthstone.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure those Hearthstone guys in the video are actually perfectly OK, so you can stop worrying about them and have a look at the first of the new cards down below.

For those that have been waiting for a new mode, you'll be getting it with Witchwood as well. Echo lets you play a card multiple times in a turn by putting a temporary copy of itself in your hand when the card enters play.

The new single-player mode is Monster Hunt. That works like a modified Charge, letting minions attack other minions - but not the opposing hero - right away. At the start of the game, Genn Greymane-a neutral Legendary minion with 6/5 and costing 6 mana-will grant even-cost decks by decreasing the player's Hero Power to 1-mana instead of the standard 2. You'll be able to select four new heroes to join your crusade, each with special powers and "cards that create completely new playstyles and strategies". Baku the Mooneater-Legendary minion, 7/8, 9-mana cost- rewards odd-cost decks with an upgraded Hero Power (Blizzard did not offer specifics on upgraded Hero Powers, though this may function like a previous Legendary, Justicar Trueheart).

Once the expansion is released, players will have two weeks to arm themselves before embarking on Monster Hunts-the thrilling new single-player Hearthstone experience that will send players deep into The Witchwood to stamp out the evils that lurk within. Even if you don't pre-order, if you log in for a limited time after the expansion launches, you'll receive three Witchwood card packs and a guaranteed class legendary from the new set for free. Factors that could cause Blizzard Entertainment's actual future results to differ materially from those expressed in the forward-looking statements set forth in this release include unanticipated product delays and other factors identified in the risk factors sections of Activision Blizzard's most recent annual report on Form 10-K and any subsequent quarterly reports on Form 10-Q.
