Mark Hamill To Be Guest Of Honour at Dublin Parade

Mark Hamill, who once memorably posed with a packet of Tayto crisps and then a packet of King to balance things out when he felt he's upset certain people, will be the first International Guest of Honour at the St Patrick's Day Festival in Dublin.

Honing in more on his director's duties, we also get to see Johnson working with Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley as they workshop a now-famous scene and shape it into what will eventually appear in front of millions of fans around the world.

After becoming the Wild Atlantic's most beloved visitor while filming the latest Star Wars episode in Skellig Michael in Kerry - to the point that one bar now commemorates the place he pulled a Guinness - Hamill is being welcomed back to these shores to kickstart a new honorary role of International Guests of Honour.

And it's just now we're finding out the man has a "double-link" to Ireland!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might be the final time Mark Hamill played Luke Skywalker, but the star of the franchise wants actor Jacob Tremblay to play younger version of his iconic role if the makers ever revisit the character's past.

Patrick's Festival CEO said "Mark has a special affinity to Ireland through his filming of Star Wars and family history and has done much for our film industry. Mark has been a great ambassador for Ireland and it is wonderful to have someone of such universal - even galactic - acclaim in this new honorary role".

What better way to honour this than by welcoming Mark as part of the celebrations this weekend. He has also got connections to Ireland through his family which date back to his great-grandmother Elizabeth Keating was born in Kilkenny on 6th December 1873. The young couple moved to New York City and settled in Manhattan where they had five children.
