Microsoft expands the Cloud - including Swiss Datacenters

Several big cloud computing players have revealed plans to establish data centers in the region recently, including Oracle and Amazon Web Services. The giant has deepened their expertise in the Middle East particularly in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai.

The growing customer demand lets us expand our cloud services in new ways.

"The new cloud services enable customers to digitally transform their businesses empowered by Microsoft's global network and the latest innovative services while meeting their compliance requirements to store customer data in Germany", said Sabine Bendiek, Area Vice President, Microsoft Germany. "I am excited about HCL's strong commitment to our cloud alliance as their Lab 21 will provide a platform for building and showcasing industry vertical and horizontal solutions with the Microsoft AI Platform and Microsoft Azure", said Michael Angiulo, CVP, Microsoft Corp.


Microsoft's cloud expansion has been full-steam ahead for several years with the company having 38 regions online with 12 additional regions announced. Over the last three years, Microsoft has more than doubled its number of available Azure regions, they said, providing Microsoft with more regions than any other cloud provider. The company has announced that they have chose to deliver the Microsoft cloud from their data center's located in Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.

Microsoft's new regional data centers will improve access to its cloud computing service Azure for local customers.

The company counts organisations such as The Emirates Group, Emaar Properties, Etihad Airways, Majid Al Futtaim, and Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts, among its clients that will benefit with its new announcement.
