Neil deGrasse Tyson drops truth bombs on Flat Earthers, and it's glorious

Earth from space

Flat Earther Connor Murphy had a ready-made answer for that, in an interview with Unilad this month.

Bad news, flat-earthers. Neil deGrasse Tyson is here to prove once again the Earth is indeed round.

In the video, the astrophysicist mentions three tests to check whether the earth is flat or not. According to Tyson, free speech and the degraded educational system are to be blamed. Those who have chosen to believe in the flat Earth theory even in the face of thousands of years of scientific observation from every single continent will simply brush it off as "lies" anyway because that's just what they do.

So why does it seem like more and more people are subscribing to the flat Earth theory?

While "we have a video from space - of a rotating spherical earth", the people who believe that the earth is flat do not believe it. Moving further in the video, he points out a joke about flat Earth believers who believe that all the planets, sun, moon and other celestial body is round except the Earth. He disproved this idea by pointing out that due to the way energy behaves, plus the laws of physics, the universe naturally forms spherical bodies. He stated that there could be distortion in the shape like when the planet is revolving at a massive speed, it might look something bulgy like a disk but it is still a spherical or round surface. His view differs from that of astronomer and author Stuart Clark, who told Business Insider UK earlier this year that he believes flat-Earthers are simply being amusing by saying that Earth is flat. The fact that a ship disappears from the view at the horizon proves the earth is round. With three wells in different locations, the angles of incoming sunlight would all be different and can be measured to suggest a curved Earth. If a well is deep enough, it would only be possible to see the bottom of the well at noon when the sun is directly overhead - otherwise, the sunlight would be coming down at an angle that wouldn't reach the bottom of that well.

Neil deGrasse Tyson blames the educational system in the USA for the perpetuation of the flat Earth theory because he doesn't think it teaches critical thinking skills.

We all have a lot of questions we'd like to ask Flat Earthers, with number one being a shrieked, 'How can you possibly believe this nonsense?' He took the pen name Merlin to write a column in the Universe section of Star Date magazine and later, released few of its material in the book 'Merlin's Tour of the Universe (1998), etc. He studied at the Columbia University, University of Texas, and Harvard University.
