No Anchorage flight delays from East Coast storm

Flights full of vomiting passengers have been landing in Washington DC while the powerful winds meant some planes weren't able to land at all

From Washington DC to New England, residents were pounded with freezing rain, snow and strong winds that caused nightmares for travelers.

More than 2,100 flights were canceled by airlines, most spread across airports in the Northeast.

But what about the planes that did manage to take off?

"Pretty much everyone on the plane threw up", said one pilot who landed at Dulles Airport Friday morning during the severe wind.

Pilot reports are "reported by a pilot to indicate encounters of hazardous weather such as icing or turbulence" and are "transmitted in real-time via radio to a ground station", according to the Aviation Weather Center's website.

"Pretty much everyone on the plane threw up", according to the National Weather Service's official aircraft report. It was a report from a pilot that no passenger wants to hear.

The Washington Post reported that winds in the D.C. area reached 70-mph gusts.

United Express Flight 3833 left Charlottesville, Va., around 6:30 a.m. local time Friday and arrived less than an hour later at Dulles, NBC Washington reported.

Other pilots reported moderate turbulence and diversions Friday.
