My Dear Melancholy- The Weeknd

Fans didn't need to hold their breath for too long. And now, a mere 16 months after that, he's already back with another one: My Dear Melancholy.

Earlier in the song, The Weeknd sings about "Wasted times I spent with someone else" - which fans believe is about his most recent ex Selena Gomez.

Speculation about a new album began a couple of days ago when The Weeknd posted a screenshot of a conversation with high school friend turned creative director La Mar Taylor which hinted at new music dropping as soon as Friday. The fact that it is indeed a new Weeknd LP was confirmed by a separate post of a billboard in Los Angeles.

Then, Thursday morning, the artist revealed the cover art for his new album, featuring a shadowed, haunting portrait of himself that seems to perfectly embody the spirt of Melancholy in the album's title. It had, after all, been a minute since we've had an out-of-nowhere sneak-attack-from-the-sky pop moment, and now Tesfaye has given us one.

"But you've been with me from the beginnin' (ooh, yeah, yeah) / And I know right now that we're not talkin' (not talkin')", The Weeknd sings.

My Dear Melancholy is out now via XO/Republic.
