Adidas Interested in Signing Kaepernick If He Signs With NFL Team First

Kaepernick

Under much scrutiny for the last few years over his peaceful protest of the national anthem, Colin Kaepernick has failed to find a home thus far in the NFL.

King was speaking during a Q&A with the CEO of Arizona State University's Global Sports Institute, Kenneth L. Shropshire, at the Arizona State Global Sports Summit, when he explained the apparel company "would definitely want to sign" the quarterback if an National Football League team picks him up, according to The Republic.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported talks between the quarterback and Seattle Seahawks are "in a holding pattern but not done" after the team re-signed backup Austin Davis. Kaepernick took to the medium to share his thoughts on the recent resurfacing of his anthem protest, quoting Jackie Robinson on the Major League Baseball star's official remembrance day.

Adding, "We love athletes that have a platform to make the world a better place".

Kaepernick began protesting during the anthem in 2016, as a way of bringing attention to racial injustice, specifically police brutality toward unarmed black men.

He said the position represents a shift over the last three years in which Adidas has come to represent an "intersection between culture and sports". According to reports, a workout with the Seahawks was canceled last week after Kaepernick refused to abandon the anthem demonstration altogether. But if he gets one, a sponsorship deal would follow.

Mark King also said that Adidas isn't a political brand. "But allowing our athletes to tell their story, it's really important to us".

If Colin Kaepernick finds himself on a team for this season, he'll not only have some guaranteed money on his contract but even more money coming from Adidas.

"Hey, @adidas, sign @Kaepernick7 whether or not he plays in the @NFL!", Bishop Talbert Swan tweeted.
