German police raid Porsche execs in diesel probe

Policemen enter a building of German luxury carmaker Porsche in Stuttgart southern Germany

As the public prosecutor in Stuttgart announced in the morning, 33 prosecutors and 160 police officers searched a total of ten objects in Germany's federal states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.

German police have raided the offices of Porsche and Audi as part of a fraud probe against two top Porsche executives and a former employee of the luxury carmaker.

"The three accused consist of one member of Porsche's executive board and one senior manager".

The trio, whose identities have not been revealed, are under investigation for suspected fraud and false advertising in relation to diesel emissions cheating and manipulation of exhaust data in Porsche vehicles.

"Audi AG and Porsche AG are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities", he added.

Volkswagen is one of the world's biggest carmaking groups, with brands including Porsche, Audi, ...

The raid is in connection with the diesel emissions cheating scandal.

Prosecutors said an investigation is ongoing and they would not provide further details.

The statement said prosecutors had received help from their counterparts in Munich, who a year ago arrested Wolfgang Hatz, a high-ranking executive and engineer who served across the VW, Audi and Porsche brands. Mr Hatz was previously head of engines and development at Audi from 2001 to 2007, and was then chief engineer for engines and transmissions at Volkswagen from 2007 to 2011.

Mueller, who led Porsche between 2010 and 2015, took the helm of the VW group in the turbulent days after the scandal broke.

However, Audi has had its offices raided before, along with Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW. The prosecutors did not release the names of those suspected.
