On Wednesday, Puerto Rico was hit with an island-wide power outage. After the country made strides to regain power, it has experienced yet another blackout that'll take almost 36 hours to reinstate, Buzzfeed reports.

There have been countless outages across Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria struck on September 20 and damaged the island's power grid, but none of the previous ones was as widespread as this one.

In the continued fallout from Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico is suffering through another series of power outages.

Hurricane Maria's magnitude still ripples throughout Puerto Rico. It was the second major outage in less than a week, with the previous one affecting some 840,000 customers.

She's served as an expert witness in several proceedings regarding Puerto Rico's energy system and written op-eds on the crumbling infrastructure.

Wednesday was a reminder of how fragile some things still are in Puerto Rico.

Carmen Yulin Cruz, mayor of the capital of San Juan, said the outage would not interrupt the last of a two-game series between the Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins, which is being played on the island.

"This is too much", said Luis Oscar Rivera, a computer technician who just got normal power back at his house less than two months ago.

In March, six months since Hurricane Maria walloped the island, Gov. Ricardo Rossello said that the electrical grid being put up now will be weaker than the grid that existed before the storm, adding that it could take almost five years for a stronger grid to be built.

"We don't know what the cause was, yet", Cruz said.

Officials have said the game will continue despite a blackout that has affected the entire island.

"We asked for it to be extended again", said U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, (R) Florida. About 51,000 customers, out of 1.4 million, had power.
