Mother accused of setting auto on fire with three kids inside

Two of her daughters were left behind at the car wash as the mother tried to flee

Authorities in Houston have taken a woman into custody after witnesses reported she set her auto on fire as she sat inside with her three children.

Witnesses said the mother, identified as 31-year-old Ana Ester Segovia, attempted to burn the vehicle around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, Houston Police said. Witnesses say they heard the woman make a certain remark after the fire started.

Segovia's daughters, ages 9, 11, and 13, were inside and the mother was heard saying in Spanish, "We're going to see Jesus", ABC 13reported.

A Texas mother who tried to burn her three children alive inside her auto told them beforehand "they were going to see Jesus", police say.

Police said witnesses intervened and Segovia fled on foot with the children. She tried to run away, but tripped and officers arrested her after a short struggle, police said.

Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas from the office of Harris County District Clerk Chris Daniel report that Segovia is charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault of a Family Member. Fox26 reports that Houston Fire Department arson investigators are conducting an investigation Monday morning. The mother will also undergo a mental health evaluation, police told KHOU.
