Tiger Roll wins 2018 Grand National in dramatic finish at Aintree

"I've no interest in slowing down", he said. All the way up the run-in I thought he wasn't going to get there and then right on the line I thought we had a shout. To win a National, I probably thought it was all very easy.

All of the 38 Horses who ran The 2018 Randox Health Grand National have returned safely to stables despite concerns for Saint Are.

However, a late surge by the Willie Mullins-trained Pleasant Company (25/1) brought the race to a photo-finish.

It was a photo finish at the end between Tiger Roll and Pleasant Company, with the former crossing the finish line first by a nose.

Russell travelled home to Ireland on Saturday night after his victory on the Gordon Elliott-trained horse at Aintree.

'I was very, very lucky (with Silver Birch).

The video - captured after The Grand National race - shows security battling to keep the crowd under control as they attempt to mount a statue. "It is incredible to have finally won; it is a marvelous event", he said.

Jockey Davy Russell after winning the Grand National.

It's all change now, however, and in the past five weeks Elliott has taken the Irish Independent Leading Trainer Award at Cheltenham for a second time, hit a record-breaking 200 winners (and counting) for the season in Ireland and won his maiden Irish Grand National with General Principle. "I am thinking about my kids at home knowing they can be part of this wonderful event". Del Boy is a stayer and the National is four and half miles and he is a good ride who likes to lead from the front and the quicker the race the better he goes as long as the ground has a bit of give.

"We send horses to lots of trainers, and those that train winners get more horses, those that don't get less, and Gordon is setting different standards".

Coming in fifth place on Milansbar, Bryony Frost had an excellent showing in her first-ever ride at the Grand National.

The horse fell halfway through the race and a green tent was erected around it in front of anxious spectators.
