We Have No Doubts That Buhari Will Lose In 2019 - ADP

Makurdi - A chieftain of the APC in Benue, Mr Joseph Boko, has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari's interest in a second term, but urged him to initiate policies that would improve the lot of the poor. The anti- corruption war and fights against insecurity will be consolidated.

President Buhari had on April 9, 2018, during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared his intention to seek re-election in 2019.

"I declared before leaving home because Nigerians were talking too much about whether I would run or not". We have many things to focus on, like security, agriculture, economy, anti-corruption, and many others. This was partially a function of the reliance on oil that saw us abandon the historical revenue collection systems and switch to a culture of sharing resources, rather than generating them.

"Now that we know where the APC is heading, our duty is to mobilise Nigerians to more than ever before obtain PVCs and come out to vote out hardship, wanton killings and unemployment, which another four years of Buhari represents".

"But until we approve, no single amount can be taken from that account", he said.

"We have cut the importation of rice by about 90%, saving billions of dollars in the process".

He said Buhari has done a lot to warrant his second term in office, adding that even the blind could see what he has been doing for the country. People who rushed into petrol money have now gone back to agriculture.

Nihi, who addressed newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, said that the President's declaration had put to rest the speculations on whether he would run in the 2019 elections or not. Special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, who disclosed this in a statement he issued yesterday said the short extension after the original March 31 date is based on the appeals of professional bodies and individual taxpayers.
