Wintry mix still in the forecast early Monday

Wintry mix still in the forecast early Monday

Very low visibility in portions of IL, including the Peoria area.

While temperatures will fall slightly, I believe all of Cape May, Atlantic County south of route 40 as well as most of Cumberland will remain all rain throughout the morning.

The snow does not look to be as heavy as Monday's system, and may linger is a rain/snow mix longer. That will cause temperatures to nosedive by Wednesday evening. Then another Canadian cold front will bring in the next storm system with widespread rain and snow likely Wednesday night through Thursday. Accumulations of 6 to 9 inches are possible in this area.

Snow began sticking at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx at around 5:30 a.m.

Snowfall accumulations should stay below 1 inch, the weather service said.

Accumulations of around 1 to 2 inches are expected in northeast Nebraska and west-central Iowa, with a dusting of snow as far south as Interstate 80.

The snow will make the morning commute hard and could be heavy at times, the Weather Service says.

"Unsettled weather returns Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday with rain at times along with milder temperatures, then blustery and colder weather follows Thursday", the Weather Service says.

Today should see a high of 46 and a low of 37. There is an outside chance some parts of Wisconsin could pick up a foot of snow if heavy snow bands form due to the ideal combination of cold air aloft, warmer air with moisture in the lower levels, and intense forcing in the atmosphere.

Skies are fairly clear in Mid-Michigan this morning and visibility is great, setting the table for an easy Monday morning commute. Lows are expected to dip mostly into the mid 30s by Tuesday morning.

"This snow event will last eight hours or less in any one community, but that will be enough time to whiten the ground with some areas also facing slick travel", AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski said.

"In the sunshine temperatures will reach 13 or 14 degrees, not too bad at all for this part of April".

It seems as though the cool pattern with the potential for rain and snow that developed in March isn't going anywhere through mid-April as more threats loom next weekend into the following week.
