Amazon banning customers for too many returns

Amazon bans customers

One reason online retailers such as Amazon have been able to pull customers from brick-and-mortar stores is the "no questions asked" return policy.

"We want everyone to be able to use Amazon, but there are rare occasions where someone abuses our service over an extended period of time", an Amazon spokesman said.

Khadeeja Safdar, a retail writer for the Wall Street Journal advises customers to be very cognizant of what they are returning.

Nissim, 20, still had $450 balance in his account that he had gotten from a gift card.

Amazon is banning shoppers from the site for returning too many items, often without informing the customer of the grievance.

The account closure is causing havoc among the Amazon customers including both Prime members & occasional buyers.

An additional customer, Claire Bochner, shared a screenshot from an email she received an account specialist.

He was eventually informed by a customer service agent that his return activity was the root of his troubles. Well the usually customer-friendly Amazon is now doing the same.

The company wouldn't tell us how many customers it's banned, nor would they give us examples.

Golan, 23, said she spends thousands of dollars a year with the shopping giant and never expected she'd be punished for sending a few things back, especially when some items delivered were damaged or not what she ordered. However, Nissim said he had only returned one item in the past year. #BadCustomerExperience #onlineshopping #Horrible #ShopLocal #BoycottAmazon, ' she said on Twitter.

Behaviors that could trigger the ban include returning the wrong item or items that look used, returning technology like TVs or computers, or posting product reviews in exchange for compensation.

Undoubtedly, Amazon has built a reputation on easy return policy but with current step the company clearly signaled that it won't withstand any fallacy from even its customers.

However, many have noticed that Amazon won't inform you if they close your account, which has left many people up in the air about why their accounts were cancelled.
