Antonio Conte defends Chelsea record ahead of final league game

When asked on Friday how the days after the FA Cup final are likely to pan out, Conte replied: "No, but for sure, probably, I will go to Milan for the [testimonial] game for [Andrea] Pirlo on [May] 21st".

"Michael did a great job for this club for many years".

"Last season, after a 10th-place finish, we won the league".

"This season until he stayed here he helped me a lot". For me, for sure, it was a big loss in October.

Emenalo joined Monaco as technical director three weeks after his exit from Chelsea. The Italian, however, said he paid no attention to speculation. Mourinho led the Blues to the 2014-15 Premier League title, but was sacked the following December as the team was struggling mightily.

The Blues are fifth in the Premier League and Champions League qualification is dependent on victory at Newcastle and Brighton beating Liverpool at Anfield.

Conte has consistently deflected questions about his own future, pointing out that his contract has another year to run, but few observers would be surprised to see him leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

"When you're manager it's normal a lot of time to transfer your emotion in your house with your family", he added.

"I'm the last person to judge the moment of the club".

Marcos Alonso's fluke goal levelled after Laurent Depoitre gave the Terriers the lead at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea could not find a way to beat Jonas Lossl late on despite intense pressure, the goalkeeper brilliantly tipping an Andreas Christensen header on to the post.

The Chelsea board have yet to make a final decision on the former Barcelona manager or the current Napoli boss, but Enrique - who is now without a job - wants big wages and a sizeable transfer budget.

The likes of Andreas Christensen (22), Tiemoue Bakayoko (23) and Alvaro Morata (25) featured with varying degrees of irregularity throughout the season and should provide a bit of hope looking forward, but they've hardly been handed the keys to the auto the way Conte would have you believe.

"This season he did a fantastic job".
