Boston Dynamics Has Created A Running Robot, And It's Coming For You

Boston Dynamics Has Created A Running Robot, And It's Coming For You

A four-legged robot named SpotMini makes its way through a course as well. The robot required mapping of the facility first, but during the entire run you see on camera, Boston Dynamics says it was driving itself.

He made the announcement Friday at a TechCrunch robotics conference at University of California, Berkeley.

Boston Dynamics shared a new video Thursday of its famous humanoid robot jogging across a lawn and up a hill.

No price has been set for the robot yet, though Mr Raibert said making the latest prototype cost about one-tenth the price of earlier versions. The company will start selling the robots in 2019.

The fact that the Atlas robot can jump over a log is perhaps not too surprising if you consider that the same Boston Dynamics design was shown doing backflips a year ago.

The second clip shows Atlas, Boston Dynamics' humanoid robot, channel his inner Rocky Balboa and go for a run in the great outdoors.

Those mad scientists over at Boston Dynamics, once associated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, have again pushed humanity closer toward a seemingly inevitable robot uprising. Japanese tech giant SoftBank bought Boston Dynamics from Google a year ago.

He also mentioned the possibility of building robots to help with construction projects, though he did not provide any further details about that ambition.
