Browns get 'Hard Knocks' even though they didn't want it

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield

Former GM Ted Thompson and current head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers have all commented publicly about the team's desire to avoid the show and its many potential distractions and intrusions. Teams that have been to the playoffs at least once in the last two years can turn it down.

The Cleveland Browns have reportedly been selected to appear on HBO's "Hard Knocks", the long-running, behind-the-scenes series that will shadow the team throughout training camp and the pre-season. Historically, Hard Knocks hasn't resulted in a favorable outcome for the team feature regarding success in the season that follows, but Cleveland can't only improve at this point as the 0-16 record continues to haunt them moving forward. The defense has plenty of intriguing players as well, like 2017 No. 1 pick second-year defensive end Myles Garrett, who should be good for a few "good LORD that guy might kill someone" moments during practice over the summer.

A league source told Cleveland.com that the Browns were chosen from a pool of six finalists. However, the Browns have announced they will be featured on the 13th season of Hard Knocks.

Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey recently expressed hope that the Browns would not be the team selected for "Hard Knocks" in an interview with ESPN Cleveland 850. Now football fans can find out just how this dysfunctional franchise works. "I don't think there's anything good that comes out of 'Hard Knocks, ' but we'll see". "We understand winning is ultimately most important to our fans". Being able to bring our fans in so they can get to know our players and our organization in a different way will be a huge positive for us.
