Everton sack Sam Allardyce after six-month stint as manager

David Moyes and Sam Allardyce

EVERTON are looking for their fourth permanent manager in two years after Sam Allardyce was sacked yesterday.

The 63-year-old met with major investor Farhad Moshiri this morning in London and was informed he would not be seeing out the remainder of his 18-month contract. He had a year to run on his contract.

Allardyce's backroom team of Sammy Lee and Craig Shakespeare will also depart. In reality, Allardyce took charge in November, so has had six months to prove his worth.

"Because he stabilised the football club so quickly, now the fans expect Sam to try to take the team forward". In short, there will be a party on the blue side of Merseyside this evening after the news was announced earlier today.

TEAMtalk stated last week that Chris Wilder, Paul Cook and Michael Appleton were under consideration from Sunderland's prospective new owner Stuart Donald but, if you ask the fans, there is one man who should be right at the top of the wish list.

A number of bosses have been linked with the Everton job, even before Allardyce's exit, as the decision seems to have been in the pipeline for a good while.

Despite Watford's protests, Everton are pressing ahead with negotiations with Silva's representatives, and the Greek Superleague victor is the clear favourite to land the job in the coming days. However, Watford refused the former Olympiakos boss permission to speak to the Merseysiders.

Palace secured their place in the Premier League with a 4-0 victory over Hull, who were relegated to the Championship as a result.

"I would say most Everton fans didn't want me out", he told TalkSPORT.

Next in line in the betting is Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca, who is 5/2 to fill the vacant position.

The former Newcastle and Blackburn manager steered the Toffees away from the threat of relegation, but failed to win over supporters and irked many with his perceived negative tactics and lack of ambition.

Big Sam is also due a bonus for keeping Everton in the Premier League.

"We are already taking steps to identify and recruit the manager we believe can take West Ham United forward in line with our ambitions".
