Former Premier League defender Jlloyd Samuel dies in vehicle crash

The statement statement: "We've received some bad news that former National defender and Ex-Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers player Jlloyd Samuel died in a vehicle crash this morning in England".

Samuel was a well-known figure in English football throughout a professional career which saw him represent Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers between 1998 and 2011.

Samuel represented England at U21 level before winning two caps at senior level for Trinidad and Tobago.

Former Trinidadian soccer player Jlloyd Samuel died on Tuesday, aged 37, in a traffic accident in England, the soccer federation of Trinidad and Tobago confirmed in a statement.

"The TTFA and all his former teammates extends deepest condolences to his family in this most hard time".

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and former national teammates has sent "deepest condolences" to his family members in this country and in Trinidad and Tobago.

A MAN who died in the horrific road crash near Warrington this morning has been named as former soccer global Jlloyd Samuel who had lived in Lymm for some time.


"Sadly the driver of the vehicle, Jlloyd Samuel, 37, from Lymm, died at the scene", said a statement.

Police remain at the scene on West Lane following the collision involving a Range Rover and a van at 7.55am.

"His next of kin have been informed and are now being supported by specially trained officers".

He also played for another Iranian club Paykan for one year. "Rest in peace Jay".

Bolton also paid tribute to their former player via the club's social media channels.

The driver of the van, a 54-year-old man, has also sustained serious injuries and is now being treated in hospital.

The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this hard time.
