Georgia officer fired for unnecessary force against Cardinal Mooney grad

And, now, the officer responsible has been fired. Pattillo said he won't pursue the felony charge, and the misdemeanor charges will now be turned over to the county solicitor general for review.

The move comes after a now-viral video which showed an arrest of Marrow where he was arrested for allegations fo road rage. However, their investigation concluded that the other officer, Matt Donaldson, acted "within departmental policy". The officer, David Rose, was recorded on his in-car video camera saying he choked Marrow, Amerman said, and meant to leave that information out of his police report recounting the incident.

The police officer seen choking and slamming former National Football League player Desmond Marrow to the ground last month just outside of Atlanta has been fired, authorities announced Thursday. "He was also recorded stating that he was not going to write that information in his report", a release stated.

Amerman said Rose was also recorded on his in-car camera system saying he had choked Marrow and that he didn't intend to include that in his report.

The AJC.com reports that the officer, whose name has not been released, choked Desmond Marrow while he was in handcuffs.

Marrow says he feels vindicated. It all began when someone reportedly threw coffee onto Marrow's vehicle.

One of the arresting officers says Marrow attempted to kick the other cop, who was trying to get Marrow to spread his legs. The officer asked if anyone had thrown any punches, then asked for Marrow to stop using profanity.

But the report says one of the men claiming to be in the other auto, told police that Marrow followed him closely, tried to hit his auto with the pickup and threw a rock that dented a door on his vehicle. One officer patted him down, and no weapon was found. The Henry County Magistrate Court dropped the terroristic threats charge on December 11, according to the AJC. His office's investigation into the use of force continues.

In addition to the criminal case, Pattillo had on April 27 announced his office's parallel investigation into the officers' use of force. "This case was investigated no differently than any other case we handle and was given the full resources of my staff, as are all felony crimes that occur in our jurisdiction".

Rose "was administratively charged with unnecessary force and conduct violations from the department and county", prompting his firing, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. However, Rose was found to have violated conduct and used unnecessary force during the process. The rally at Tabernacle of Praise Church International, where Marrow is a member, was called to put the pressure on the Henry County police department to fire the two officers involved.

Chief Amerman said that this was an isolated incident and not "a reflection of the many dedicated officers who perform duties of their office every day".
