Google Shows Off Android P With New iPhone X-Style Gestures

Lookout is a new app that uses image recognition and artificial intelligence to describe a scene through a phone's camera. Google announced the app at its annual I O developer conference this week

The Android app can be installed via the Play Store link below, or you can sideload it from APK Mirror.

Unlike before, Android P beta is no longer limited to Google Pixels. Google executives also confirmed there will be a Go edition of Android P, though this was not announced at the keynote.

It makes sense that Google is going to be adding the "auto enhance" feature in the next Photos update, however, it's still unclear if locked albums functionality will ever make it to the live app. The updates and changes coming to Android P including the updated launcher and notification handling is pretty fluid and I've been liking the new version a lot. Developed by Alphabet's AI-outfit DeepMind, Adaptive Battery learns an individual's usage patterns and directs the power to only the apps you need at the time you need them for more predictable day-to-day battery life. For instance, just as the user connects the headphone jack, the phone will perform an action to resume playing the favourite playlist. Google is also improving the DND mode to ensure that even visual notifications disappear from the screen when this is activated. This feature will show results in slightly larger interactive snippets. From there, Google will walk you through the process. That kind of growth is incredible and if you create an Android app the right way, you can be hugely successful. With phones growing taller, the new gesture will help users do things quickly. A single upwards swipe moves directly into the app overview. It works with the Firebase mobile development platform. Starting with Android P, apps given permission for location, the microphone, camera and network status will no longer be able to access them when idle in the background.

Google is looking to cover its biometric bases with the next version of its Android mobile operating system: The latest Developer Preview for "Android P", as it is tentatively known, features a new API for biometric authentication that supports facial, fingerprint, and iris recognition.

The SDK will include machine learning models for text recognition, barcode scanning, landmark recognition, image labelling and face detection that Google has already built, in their apps.

Featuring a set of base APIs to build machine learning into apps, ML Kit is now in public beta.
