Hearing delayed in Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's NY court case

President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen received a secret payment of at least $400,000 from the Ukraine in exchange for arranging this June 2017 Oval Office meeting with President Trump, the BBC reported.

U.S. President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen arrives at his hotel in New York City, U.S., May 11, 2018. I don't know for sure, but I'm gonna guess that a Michael Cohen plea deal with Mueller or other NY prosecutors has got to be right around the corner.

The New York State Attorney General's Office said in a press release that Freidman had pleaded guilty to a criminal charge on Tuesday, but it made no mention of whether he was cooperating with prosecutors.

Freidman's cooperation agreement could be a significant development for Cohen, whose personal business practices are under investigation by the US attorney for the Southern District of NY. He will also be required to pay $5 million to the state of NY. To which Michael Cohen says, WHO?

"He's just not involved in the taxis", said former NY mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.

The president's lawyers are already resigned to the strong possibility that the inquiry into Mr. Cohen's businesses could lead him to cooperate with federal prosecutors. "Friedman pocketed money that should have provided much-needed investment in our transit system and he'll now have to pay back every cent". Friedman was facing what would have amounted to a life sentence, the source said, but if he satisfies the terms of the agreement, he will receive just five years of probation.

Despite this, Poroshenko was frustrated by Cohen, as he initially had great trouble nailing down a lengthy meeting with the president.

CNN previously reported the Federal Bureau of Investigation searches included a request for documents related to Cohen's ownership of taxi medallions and sought information about taxi owners who had financial dealings with Cohen. New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood confirmed that he will also pay $5 million in restitution to New York State. "Gene Freidman and I are not partners and have never been partners in this business or any others". He was called the taxi king in NY.

"Poroshenko's inner circle were shocked by how dirty this whole arrangement (with Cohen) was", a Ukranian source told the BBC. As part of the deal, Cohen offered up his $9 million Park Ave. apartment, as well as money he might receive from Freidman for managing his taxis, as additional collateral.

His lawyers are due in federal court in Manhattan next week for a conference with the judge overseeing review of the evidence seized by the USA in the raid.
