Incremental North Korean denuclearisation will be unacceptable - South Korea official

Speaking on Monday at a forum at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C. the former Obama official rebuked the commonly heard criticism in recent days that Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran deal would undermine USA credibility in the eyes of North Korean regime and make it harder to reach a peace deal.

An ex-North Korean official suggested that his former country may have a different definition of the term that has been circulating around foreign policy circles ahead of the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un: denuclearization.

WASHINGTON-A former senior US diplomat from the Obama administration said that President Trump's recent decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal would not adversely affect USA negotiations with North Korea, contrary to the opinion of many of Trump's critics. Pompeo's remarks implied that the two sides might have gone further to agree on how to denuclearize the North and how to compensate for complying with what the U.S calls for: complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization.

The broadcaster said later the group had arrived at the Diaoyutai government guest house although the identity of the visitors was not immediately known. If the idea is translated into action, North Korea could enjoy economic prosperity that will rival that of South Korea. "He also said that they are the strongest assurance that guarantees the most respected and happiest life on earth".

However, Kono emphasized that Japan will not lift its sanctions on the North or begin economic assistance until the regime achieves a complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization (CVID), adding that's the worldwide consensus.

North Korea's state-controlled media released a statement from the ministry of foreign affairs on Saturday, exactly one month ahead of the historic Kim-Trump meeting planned for June 12 in Singapore.
