Lawyer of two Schneiderman accusers asked Trump's fixer Michael Cohen for help

Former New York State Attorney Eric Schneiderman speaks during a Law Day event at the Court of Appeals in Albany in 2015

My office was contacted some years ago by two unrelated women who at two separate times (approximately 1 year apart) claimed that Mr. Scheiderman was sexually inappropriate with them.

That perfectly matches the timeline in Gleason's letter.

Eliot Spitzer resigned as governor of NY after his dalliance with a prostitute was revealed.

Correction: The headline on an earlier version of this story misspelled the name of Eric Schneiderman.

Gleason said he discussed the matter with Steve Dunleavy, a retired New York Post columnist, who then did so with Trump - something Gleason says he found out while talking with Cohen.

Dunleavy denied this account - he told CNBC on Friday that he didn't talk to Trump about the matter.

Days later, Trump, who at the time was being sued by Schneiderman over Trump University, tweeted about Schneiderman - saying he would be the next politician to fall from grace. Is he a crook?

Anthony Weiner resigned from Congress after making salacious tweets.

The reason Gleason is now asking for a protective order on the communications with Cohen, is because he believes Stormy Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti is on a crusade against Cohen and Trump and will stop at nothing to publicly expose them for any wrongdoing. Gleason said Dunleavy immediately offered to tell Trump. Schneiderman denied engaging in any "non-consensual" activity but said he's "engaged in role-playing".

Editor's note: A previous version of this article inaccurately reported that Gleason was Cohen's attorney.

Yes, Gleason says that women came to him a few years ago with details of serious allegations against Schneiderman, and at one point he spoke with Cohen about it. Gleason is trying to keep communications between him and Cohen private, because he's anxious it may out potential sexual assault victims of Schneiderman.

Schneiderman's lawyer, Isabelle Kirshner, declined to comment.

Gleason says in his letter that he did not think it would be worthwhile to go to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office with the allegations, "based on my past experiences in reporting prima facie political corruption that was ignored by the office, some of which were ultimately prosecuted elsewhere".

"Just to be clear: not one source for our story on Schneiderman has any ties to Trump or Michael Cohen", Mayer wrote.

A day before Cohen wrote the court, Avenatti released a report that tallied $4.4 million in suspicious payments to Cohen since 2016, including $500,000 from Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg. That same day, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided Cohen's home, office, and hotel room seeking records pertaining to a hush payment Cohen negotiated just before the 2016 election to a woman who claims she had an affair with Trump.

Attorney Peter Gleason, a former NYPD officer, says he contacted Trump after learning of abuse allegations against AG Eric Schneiderman.
