Man Utd agree £43.8 million transfer fee

Brazilian midfielder Fred looks to be on his way to Manchester United for a fee believed to be around £50million. Manchester City dropped out of the race for his signature last month, leaving Manchester United on pole position to sign him.

The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports the Red Devils have reached a £50 million deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazil global midfielder Fred.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table in the 2017-18 season to secure a spot in the Champions League for the second successive season. The midfielder was also a target for Spanish champions Barcelona. However, no move materialized at that moment as Pep Guardiola & co. ended their interest and are instead working on signing Jorginho from Napoli.

Diario Gol reports that the 33-year-old is Mourinho's top transfer target this summer, and that he is willing to offer Pogba plus an extra £70m to land the prolific Portugal global.

Manchester City's Yaya Toure and Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini are reportedly on the radar of West Ham United and Marseille in the summer transfer window.

The Man United boss wants to bring in Fred before the World Cup, so a deal could be signed and sealed in a matter of weeks.

The Brazil worldwide is linked with a move to United, with champions Manchester City having nearly landed the 25-year-old in January.

It is believed that United are in advanced talks with Shakhtar over Fred's £43.7m transfer to Old Trafford, with Jose Mourinho's side hoping to complete the deal within the next few days. The 25-year old finished the campaign with 4 goals and 7 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
