Marvel: Muslim Superhero Ms. Marvel May Get Film Soon

MARVELBrie Larson stars in Captain Marvel next year

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige hinted that a movie of teen superhero Kamala Khan - aka Ms Marvel - is "in the works".

"Ms. Marvel.is definitely sort of in the works", Feige said.

In an interview conducted by BBC Kevin Feige confirmed that the Marvel studio is planning a Ms Marvel movie and that the studio is now filming Captain Marvel with Brie Larson. It will be Marvel's first solo female superhero film where a female pilot named Carol Danvers turns into Captain Marvel after an encounter with aliens. Captain Marvel's shooting right now with Brie Larson.

While nothing was officially confirmed regarding a Ms. Marvel timeline, fans on social media are certainly overjoyed about the news.

Marvel was responsible for vetting the designs and writing out the storylines for the characters, while NetEase was responsible for influencing the story with traditional Chinese mythology and history, according to South China Morning Post. "We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel", Feige says.

Silma Ihram, president of the Australian Muslim Women's Association, said she hopes the introduction of a Muslim superhero would present an alternative to "the current image of the subjugated Muslim women" which is a reality in some countries. The fictional character, Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey Kamala Khan, first appeared in a comic book storyline in 2013. Priyanka has already voiced the role of Ms Marvel in the 2016 mobile game Marvel: Avengers Academy. Marvel's recent Avengers: Infinity War is now in theatres and has broken multiple box office records in India and around the world. Or will the superhero blast onto the scene in her own movie? "It was really important for me to portray Kamala as someone who is struggling with her faith", Wilson told The Times at the time of Khan's debut.
