Media bias against President Trump harms this country

President Trump, who helped coin the term, certainly thinks that is the right description for the latest dispute over special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 US election.

Trump's "spy" comments marked his latest attack on the FBI at a time when he feels mounting pressure from the ongoing investigation by Mueller, appointed past year by the Justice Department, into potential collusion between his 2016 campaign and Russian Federation and whether he has committed obstruction of justice.

"Trump has zeroed in on and at times embellished, reports that a longtime us government informant approached members of his campaign in a possible bid to glean intelligence on Russian efforts to sway the election", The Associated Press reported Friday.

The FBI and Justice Department on Thursday held a pair of high-level briefings for lawmakers in an effort to ease Republican pressure over the Russian Federation investigation, amid Trump's outcry over revelations that a confidential informant made contact with several of his advisers during the 2016 campaign.

Trump fired Comey as the FBI investigated the Russian election interference, setting the stage for the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his wide-ranging inquiries.

"Really from the beginning of his presidency, President Trump has not observed the time-honored norm that's been in place at least since Watergate that there should be a real division between the Department of Justice and the White House", said Yates, who was sacked by Trump in January 2017 for refusing to defend the administration's travel ban.

"I think she's going to continue to reach out to candidates and let them know that she's ready to help in any way that she can".

"Nothing we heard today has changed our view that there is no evidence to support any allegation that the Federal Bureau of Investigation or any intelligence agency placed a spy in the Trump campaign or otherwise failed to follow appropriate procedures and protocols", Schiff said. Their presence was highly unusual in a sensitive congressional oversight briefing, and it raised the specter that top aides to the president could gain access to closely held information about an investigation of the president and his associates.

Democrats condemned the Republicans-only meeting and the appearance of Flood at both briefings.

Comey has said he had the authority as a private citizen to ask a friend to share details from one of his memos with the news media, and has said he did nothing wrong.

Democratic leaders in Congress said they heard no evidence in a classified briefing on Thursday to substantiate Trump's claim.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence committee, said the meeting on the classified information had not changed his view that the FBI followed proper procedures during their investigation. But Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said both left "as planned before the substantive portion of the meeting began", and "were there to relay the president's desire for as much openness as possible under the law". I don't know where he's getting that from, honestly.

They knew that because Trump had made little secret of it. Starting to look like one of the biggest political scandals in US history. This is the most benign form of information gathering. They spied on my campaign!

Other than Trump's public pleading with Russian Federation to find Clinton's missing emails, which he says was a joke, and his open praise of Russian Federation front group WikiLeaks, there's little evidence that he had a more sinister alliance with Putin.

How many times do we have to go through this charade?
