Mother of 10 kids says they weren't abused

Police in Fairfield California removed 10 children from a home on March 31 due to what they called

The matter unfolded March 31 when the oldest child, a 12-year-old boy described as developmentally delayed with the capacity of an 8-year-old, disappeared from his house in the 2000 block of Fieldstone Court.

Officers found the youngster a short time later "asleep under a bush in a yard of a nearby residence", according to Hurlbut.

Sharon Henry, chief deputy district attorney for Solano County, said she was "horrified" by their statements, saying the torture was "for sadistic purposes".

The 10 children, aged between four months and 12 years, were removed from the home in Fairfield on 31 March after their mother Ina Rogers reported that the oldest child had gone missing. There, the children not only lived in filth but were victims of physical and emotional abuse.

The police Family Violence Unit, Child Welfare Services and the District Attorney's Office then launched an investigation.

On May 11, detectives with the Fairfield Police Department arrested Jonathan Allen, a 29-year-old Fairfield resident.

He is being held in the Solano County Jail in lieu of $1.5 million bail.

The mother, Ina Rogers, 30, was arrested and charged with 10 felony charges of child neglect.

Jonathan Allen, 28, the father of the children, has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of torture and nine counts of felony child abuse.

They removed the children and Rogers was arrested.

She stated she feels she's being judged for having so many youngsters and selecting to home-school them.

The man, David Turpin, and his wife, Louise, previously pleaded not guilty to torture, child abuse and other charges in a case that has drawn worldwide attention since the couple's 17-year-old daughter escaped the family's home in Perris, California, in January and called 911.

A California woman whose 10 children were removed from a home described as filthy by authorities denied that she or her husband had abused or neglected the kids, telling reporters on Monday that the children all slept in one bedroom together because they wanted to.

She says the "squalor" officers saw when investigating the missing-child report was her tearing apart the house as she searched for her child. Ina Rogers is denying the charges and says that her home was in such disarray when officers brought her 12-year-old home because she was so distraught.

Throughout the tour, the four-bedroom home in Fairfield, 46 miles (74 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco, was messy with scuffed partitions and animal feces within the lavatory.

She said: "There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing".

Rogers was arrested and released after posting $10,000 bail on April 9.

Rogers told reporters she's surprised police had leveled the most serious accusations against her husband, as he was not the disciplinarian of the family. "I work graveyard." Rogers said. Eight of the ten children are Rogers' and Allen's biological children.

Neighbor Larry Magnaye said he had no idea there were 10 children living in the house across the street. "He looks like a scary individual and that's why people are so quick to judge him. Once that fear sets in, you don't know what to do so in that moment", she said.

"But my husband is an awesome person".

She described herself as an "amazing mother" and her husband, Allen, as an "amazing person".
