Mum's warning over playground craze that left daughter with severe burns

Ellie Prescott could be left needing a skin graft after a group former friends sprayed Lynx deodorant on her arm at close range

"My new school has sent out a warning to everyone about the dangers of it happening".

Part of a series of stunts that include eating Tide pods and inhaling condoms into one's nose, the deodorant challenge dares participants to spray aerosol deodorant at close range on their skin.

The challenge is a test of endurance and involves spraying deodorant from an aerosol can directly onto a person's bare skin.

Prescott says other children have been scarred by the "Deodorant Challenge" and is warning other parents.

Ellie described her injuries as "really painful" and said yellow liquid leaks out of the wound.

A teenager has suffered second-degree burns after friends sprayed deodorant on her in a risky challenge sweeping school playgrounds. "It seems fairly common, a lot of people have showed me their arms after doing it a while ago", Ellie Prescott added.

Jamie, from Yate, posted photos of the burns on Facebook to warn other parents of the "horrendous" craze. The incident from the viral post took place in Yate, England, but there isn't much evidence showing that the challenge is popular anywhere else - at least not recently.

Ellie said three weeks after her playing the game her injuries are still far from healed.

"For any parents who have children, please, please sit them down and show them these pictures". "These are the damaging results of something known as "The Deodorant Challenge" which is now doing the rounds in Yate and literally involves spraying deodorant on to someone else for as long as possible. It's that simple and results in severe secondary burns".

"It literally involves spraying deodorant on to someone else for as long as possible". The worrying trend can result in serious burns, as Jamie's photographs demonstrate.

"Ellie's injuries are horrendous and if we can stop others doing it that will be great", the mother of three posted. "You can see the scar I still have after all this time".

Prescott told a local news outlet that her daughter was injured after going to a park with friends and that she had no idea what would happen, as she hadn't heard of the "Deodorant Challenge" before.

Jamie said: "She went out and met with them. for a couple of hours".

She also explained that Ellie was new to her current school where the incident occurred but was adamant that the unsafe game was also happening at her previous school.
