Terrorists trained in Pakistan India should invade PoK Ramdev

The Congress today asked the government to take diplomatic measures to highlight before the global community the involvement of Pakistan in terror activities in India following its former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's admission on militant groups being active in the neighbouring country.

Without naming Mumbai attack mastermind and various militant organisations operating in the country, Mr. Sharif said, "Militant organisations are active in Pakistan".

Sharif, 67, resigned in July a year ago after the Supreme Court disqualified him from holding office over an undeclared source of income.

His remarks were played up by the Indian media as an admission of Pakistan's involvement in the terrorist attacks, even though similar questions and statements have been raised from civilian and security officials in Pakistan earlier. Should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? "Explain it to me", he asked, in a clear reference to the Mumbai killings blamed on 10 Pakistani terrorists.

Criticising the country's foreign policy, Sharif had added: "We have isolated ourselves". India's position has been that the mastermind of the Mumbai terror attack operated from Pakistan. He indicated that his country should look into why its narrative that it had been fighting terrorism had not been accepted by the worldwide community "despite sacrifices".

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Nawaz Sharif's comments were "serious disclosure". Afghanistan's narrative is being accepted, but ours is not.

The Mumbai attack case has entered into the 10th year but none of its suspects in Pakistan has been punished yet, showing that the case had never been in the priority list of the country that appears to be keen to put it under the carpet.

He said since the attack took place in the Indian financial capital, it was the Indian government which possessed "90% of the evidence and facts" of the incident. "Why can't we complete the trial". India has responded saying Pakistan has been given enough evidence to nail the terrorists.

His statement drew strong reactions from political opponents of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with PTI chief Imran Khan accusing the three-time prime minister of speaking "Narendra Modi's language" against the country. Nine of the attackers were killed by police while lone survivor Kasab was caught and hanged after handed down death sentence.
