Rita Ora feat. Cardi B, Bebe Rexha, & Charli XCX - 'Girls'

New Music: Rita Ora feat. Cardi B, Bebe Rexha, & Charli XCX – 'Girls'

It's hard to say.

On "Girls", Ora, Rexha, Charli, and Cardi proclaim their desire to kiss other women after smoking joints and drinking red wine. But also, bicuriosity and sexual exploration is totally valid.

"I think, obviously, the song is very impactful in its own way". Some bi-curious songs have stuck to the narrative that girl-on-girl attraction is something to keep hidden away, like Demi Lovato's "Cool For The Summer".

He continued, "I Kissed a Girl" isn't problematic because it promotes homosexuality, but because its appropriation of the gay lifestyle exists for the sole goal of garnering attention-both from Perry's boyfriend and her audience".

Though the ladies alternate verses throughout the star-studded song, they join pop forces during the chorus, singing, "Sometimes, I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls".

The topic of girl-on-girl has always been a staple of pop music, but as more openly queer artists make their mark on the industry, the more their perspective complicates the notion of singing about kissing a girl, and liking it, just for the titillation factor.

Lyric highlight: most of Cardi B's rap is gold, but "I could be your lipstick just for one night" certainly stood out. "I wanted to do something that was on those lines", she says.

And in April, British pop star Anne-Marie revealed that she was attracted to women. "There was a moment where this song wasn't going to be released as a single". The bridge gives a wink-wink-nudge-nudge to oral sex: "She getting down with me, yeah".

"I'm still happy I've had this incredible experience", she said when we quizzed her on it".

"I definitely want it to feel like it's an anthem to somebody", she said.

What I love the most about this song is actually how commercial it is.

Read Kiyoko's entire statement below. So I kind of left it for a bit.

The "Curious" singer took to Twitter to call out Ora and the "harm" the single will have on the LGBTQ community.
