Sushma calls on Myanmar President, Rohingya refugee crisis on the plate

Sushma Swaraj schools distressed student with'Indian-occupied Kashmir in Twitter bio

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is famous for extending help to Indians overseas, but when a Kashmiri student in the Philippines reached out to her on Thursday for help in renewing his passport, she had a lesson to give as well.

The location in his profile however triggered a severe backlash, and Ateeq soon changed the location to Jammu and Kashmir, after which Swaraj asked the Indian Ambassador in Philippines, Jaideep Mazumdar to help the student.

Swaraj responded to Ateeq saying she would have helped him if he belonged to the state of Jammu and Kashmir but his profile said "Indian occupied Kashmir".

Sheikh Ateeq requested Swaraj to help him in getting a new passport and said he needed to get back to his home as his health was deteriorating.

In fact, due to her prompt response and redressal of the problems connected to the calls for help, Swaraj is hailed by many as one of the most efficient ministers in the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The external affairs minister tweeted, "Your profile says you are from "Indian occupied Kashmir".

It appears that Ateeq changed his bio after Swaraj's tweet.

Both of Swaraj's tweets have been shared over 5,000 times and have been liked by almost 10,000 people.

At the same time, she tagged the Indian Embassy in Manila in the tweet. "I am happy that you have corrected the profile".

Later, Ateeq apparently deleted his Twitter account as it could not be accessed. "Pls help him", the minister tweeted.
