TDP workers pelt stones at Amit Shah's convoy

BJP president Amit Shah speaks to media during a BJP press conference on the last day of campaigning elections

He says that at least 2 to 3 Congress MLAs will meet the BJP president Amit Shah.Obviously to join the BJP.

The stone-pelting on one of the vehicles in the convoy of the BJP leader sparked off tension at Alipiri in Tirupati, sources said.

TDP pulled out of the NDA in March citing "injustice" to Andhra Pradesh over the Centre's failure to fulfill promises made during the state's bifurcation.

Amit Shah had gone with his family to visit the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams when TDP cadres raised slogans against the BJP Chief, chanting "Go back, Amit Shah".

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu condemned the unruly behaviour of his party workers and warned them that such acts of indiscipline would not be tolerated.

Security officials, however, said that Amit Shah's vehicle was protected.

Both the dignitaries were welcomed by the party leaders and locals. He said one should know how to behave, and being a ruling party in the state, party leaders should act in a responsible manner. "There is no place for clashes or tensions in our just struggle", Naidu said.

The BJP president had arrived in Tirupati last night after wrapping up his over a month-long election campaign in Karnataka. Tirupati urban superintendent of police Abhishek Mohanty said, "A stone is said to have been thrown at a private auto".

TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu broke away from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government this year after failing to get more central funds.

It has alleged that the Centre failed to fulfil its commitments toward Andhra Pradesh, after the state was bifurcated in 2014.
