Teacher suspended over 'relationship' with boy, 17, is shot dead in driveway

Rachael Del Tondo reportedly was suspended from her teaching job at Pa. Cyber after confidential information allegedly leaked from the Aliquippa Police concerning her and a former student

Her death occurred only six months since she was suspended from her position as a teacher at the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School after a police report was leaked that contained information about her and and the teen. However, she was reportedly suspended last fall following allegations from a former Aliquippa High School student's mother.

'I don't know why that happened. She said she didn't want her fiance to know because he would get mad.

When she exited the vehicle, an assailant reportedly fired several shots into DelTondo's torso.

The suspension came after school officials received an anonymous email containing a February 2016 police report stating DelTondo had been found in a parked auto with a 17-year-old former student.

WXPI reports that 32-year-old Rachel DelTondo was gunned down at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Buchanan Drive in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, after coming home from getting ice cream with a friend, family members said.

The incident, which took place early 2016, involved an officer finding Deltondo and the juvenile parked near Aliquippa Hospital property, noting that "the windows were steamed over and the engine was not running".

The Beaver County Coroner's Office ruled the teacher's death a homicide, according to KDKA, and noted that she died of multiple gunshots. When asked, DelTonto said that she was "just talking" to her former student, who was "upset and needed someone to talk to". Inside the auto they found the teenager and DelTondo.

Hayden said the school reported the incident to authorities under Pennsylvania law and placed DelTondo on paid suspension. In fact, the police report wasn't public knowledge until the media and Pennsylvania Cyber officials received an anonymous email in October 2017 that included the 2016 Aliquippa police report, Times Online reported. Cops later found text messages and Snapchat messages which revealed the pair had a 'relationship'.

No charges were brought, but DelTondo was still suspended by the school. Childline is part of a mandated statewide child protective services program, which transmits information to appropriate investigative agencies.

The police have launched a full homicide investigation.

"We were saddened to learn of the tragic death of Rachel DelTondo, apparently the result of a violent incident in the City of Aliquippa". "We express our sympathy to her family and coworkers and will support them in any way possible in the weeks and months ahead as they mourn her passing".

A 32-year-old female teacher died in a hail of gunfire, and now police are saying it was murder.

That information led to a suspension from her teaching job at Pa. Cyber.

Rachael DelTondo was supposed to tie the knot in 2017, but only four months later, the wedding was called off. It was handmade by a NY designer and required a non-refundable $4,000 deposit. Their wedding was canceled a few months after she was found in the vehicle with the student, but before her name was made public.

Though known in local media outlets for her dispute with her wedding dress designer, Rachael DelTondo was once a teacher.
